125th Anniversary 1892-2017

Fairlie Village Hall opened on 16th November, 1892, and to mark the anniversary week we're arranging a series of free events in the Village Hall.  Where numbers are limited, tickets will be required; free tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis - contact us to order:-

Sunday, 12th November - Fairlie's Men Of The Great War Exhibition

On Remembrance Sunday, Fairlie's Men Of The Great War exhibition can be viewed from 10.30am to 3pm.  There are nine double-sided boards and wall displays depicting the stories of the men from Fairlie who fought in the First World War.  Plus a short slideshow narrated with excerpts from soldiers' letters home.  Refreshments available.

Monday, 13th November - Classic Movie Night

See a classic movie musical on our new big screen (if this is successful we plan to have regular movie nights/matinees in future).  Licensing restrictions mean we can't advertise the film title publicly, but here's a clue - features young lovers Tony and Maria and rival gangs the Sharks and the Jets!  Doors open 6.30pm, film starts 7pm, this event is ticketed.  (for ages 10+; for under 16s attending without an adult, parental permission will be required)

Tuesday, 14th November - Afternoon Tea

Come along between 1.30pm and 4pm and enjoy tea or coffee (juice for youngsters), and home-baked cakes, scones, traybakes, etc.

Wednesday, 15th November - Family Race & Roll Night

Afraid this has been cancelled due to lack of interest - sorry!

Thursday, 16th November - The McDougalls Singalong Show

It's time for The McDougalls and their Sing Along Show for youngsters - one hour of musical mayhem, full of lively songs, fun actions and lots of audience interaction!  Doors open 4.15pm; performance from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, this event is ticketed.  (children must be supervised by an accompanying adult)

Friday, 17th November - Anniversary Concert (followed by Cheese & Wine)

Enjoy an evening of "Songs From The Shows" with favourite songs from Broadway and the West End.  Organised by Fairlie resident Chris Kelly, who's currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire, the show will also feature Ailie Austin and Ruth Hutchinson.  This talented trio regularly perform at Lounge, Largs - don't miss this chance to see their ever popular show!

To finish our anniversary celebrations, we hope you'll stay on to enjoy "Cheese and Wine" after the performance ends.  Doors open 7pm, performance 7.30pm, ends 1am, this event is ticketed  (for over 18s)

During our anniversary year, we've made some improvements to Fairlie Village Hall:-

A new boiler has been installed, and we've repainted the corridor, ladies toilet and kitchen cupboards to freshen them up a bit.

Thanks to a grant from the Kelburn Wind Farm Community Fund Initiative, we've installed a new audio-visual system (wall-mounted speakers, mixer amp, projector and screen)

Thanks to the Magnox Socio-Economic Scheme (Hunterston A), the kitchen now has a new cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle and flasks
